WHISPERS AND SHADOWS
(AKA: BREAKING NEWS)

July 25, 2007:
Hey serviceElevator fans. Sorry we have not updated the site in quite a while, but there is a reason for this happening. To put it simply, change, both professionally and personally have been introduced into our lives here at the old Hollywood Tower Hotel. And without going into all the details, I have recently been offered a positive outside opportunity that I just can't pass up. Which leads me in having to find someone to "pass the torch to" regarding the ownership and management of this website.

There is simply not enough time in the day for me to manage a website of this size and capacity. So, I am putting the hotel, err, website up for sale! Yeah, it will be hard to let this site go, but I want to find the right buyer who is willing to take care of the site and update it accordingly so that it can be enjoyed by others for many more years. All interested parties can contact me at hoteloperator@serviceelevator.com for more information regarding the purchase of this site. We accomplished a lot since the launch almost one year ago next month, including taking 1st place as 2006 website of the year from The American Association of Webmasters. Depending on the response we get, we may decide to auction the website off on one of two auction websites. Feel free to drop an email anytime. If you ever wanted to own a Disney-fan related website, here's your chance! We will continue to post updates about the sale of this site and possible auction as details become available. My best to all of you serviceElevator fans.

April 6, 2007:
We just added 2 new castmembers to our Hotel Hall of Fame! Go to the Tip Top Club to see who these wonderful, hardworking castmembers are.

April 5, 2007: A virtual walk through of The Tower of Terror? Yep! A digital re-creation of The Tower of Terror attraction has been released and can be seen on YouTube. It has a "video game" feel to it and walks you through the entire attraction. You got to see this to believe it. You can check out this virtual video in the hotel library located on the 11th floor.

March 1, 2007:
The latest poll question results are in and it seems that approx. 76% of you would favor having your picture taken with a Rod Serling character around the Tower Atttraction area.. 14% of you said NO NOT INTERESTED, while 10% of you remain undecided. Our new poll question is up and running, so be sure and check it out and VOTE.

February 5, 2007 - serviceElevator.com was recently featured in two major southern California newspapers; The Orange County Register and The Riverside County Press Enterprise. We have just posted both of the articles for viewing below.

January 1, 2007 - We are excited to announce that serviceElevator.com was chosen Website of the Year by The American Association of Webmasters 2006. Over 16,000 applications were considered for this award, and serviceElevator took the number one spot for 2006.  Since our launch date of 8/31/06, we have won two awards including Website of the Year as well as the Gold Site of the Month Award for October 2006.  A big thanks goes out to everyone for helping us obtain this award in such a short amount of time! In other news, our last poll question asked if you favor a Christmas makeover for the Tower Attraction. 75% of you said yes, 20% of you said no, and approximately 5.5% of you were undecided. Our new poll question is now up and asks if you favor having California's Tower attraction changed to include horizontal movement through one of the hallways of the Hotel (similar to Florida's Tower attraction). So be sure to check that out. We have been eyeballing the progress of Nemo's Submarine Voyage and Midway Mania........two new attractions coming to Disneyland resort. Pictures will be posted shortly in the Tower Happenings section on the 2nd floor. We also have 2 new forums on the 1st floor to discuss all the hoopla surrounding these 2 new attractions---so feel free to post your thoughts. May you all have a safe and prosperous New Year

December 11, 2006 - Exclusive 2006 Club 33 Candlelight Dinner pictures are now available for viewing. Click Here.

December 4, 2006 - We are excited to bring our Christmas podcast to your ears where we have Tower of Terror movie director and writer D.J. MacHale dropping into the S.E. Radio Zone. Please go to the 8th floor to listen to this exciting and informative interview. Thanks for all your emails regarding the contest that is currently underway.  Keep on sending your ideas/names in for the contest that will run through January 31, 2007. Exclusive Club 33 Candlelight Dinner Photos from December 2 will be posted shortly......

November 27, 2006 - Hope you all had a wonderful long Turkey Weekend. For starters, serviceElevator.com is proud to present our 1st contest. Make sure and go to the 5th floor and click on the Tower-fying contests link at the top of the page for all the details. We will be taking entries through January 31, 2007, so make sure you email us before that time.......next week, we will be posting some photos of Disneyland's yearly Candlelight Event.  And just when you thought Christmas time couldn't get any merrier, we will also have some exclusive photos and news from the Club 33 Candlelight Dinner. Be safe out there shopping and stay warm

November 20, 2006 - You want the good news or bad news first? How about the good news? We are excited to announce that Tower of Terror Movie director and writer D.J.  MacHale will be joining us for our next podcast.  D.J. is a big fan of serviceElevator.com.  He will let us in on some really neat behind the scenes information from the 1997 Disney TV movie.   D.J. will discuss his contributions as it relates to expanding the character histories of the 5 elevator ghosts plus a whole lot more. Now the bad news. As much as we wanted to have the interview up before Thanksgiving, we ran into some technical glitches, so we are shooting for an early December release of the interview. Be on the lookout for that....serviceElevator.com also wants to take this time to wish you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving. We have so much to be thankful for as Americans, and we also thank you ,our readers, for your continued support of this site!

November 14, 2006 - Our 2006 Christmas Pictures from The Disneyland Resort are now available for viewing at "Tower Happenings" on the 2nd Floor. Click Here. Today, we are taping our Christmas Holiday Podcast for SE Radio. We will be announcing who our special celebrity guest is shortly and have it available for listening by Thanksgiving.

November 7, 2006- Be sure and check out the updated Hotel Hall of Fame section located on The Tip Top Club 33 floor. SE proudly welcomes WDW castmember Michal into serviceElevator's Hotel Hall of Fame. And yes, we will be posting the SE contest that we have been talking about (just in time for the Holidays)...we hope to have the contest up within the next 2 weeks. Also, we will be announcing our next SE radio guest very soon...you don't wanna miss it. Until next time....

November 1, 2006- With Halloween come and gone, Disneyland is already gearing up for Christmas time. Christmas decorations can now be seen in parts of New Orleans Square. As November chugs along, Christmas decorations will begin springing up everywhere. We will be bringing you Christmas pics and posting them in the Tower Happenings section on the 2nd floor shortly (including pictures of Club 33 dressed in its Christmas decor).

With the success of the California's Tower Halloween makeover, our new poll question is (finally!!) asking you, the readers, if you would like to see The Tower be given a Christmas makeover? The results from our last poll are in: "Which is the better Tower attraction?" Florida's Tower of Terror attraction won by a large margin, followed by the DCA Tower in California, and The Hightower Hotel attraction in Japan (DisneySea) coming in last. Hardly scientific, but still fun to see the results. Also, our Hotel Travel Club (Floor 10) has been recently updated with a new review of Disney's Grand Californian Hotel....... Its great to hear your feedback from our last interview with Wendy Worthington (TOT movie actress). As a special Christmas gift to all our readers, we will be having another TOT-related celebrity guest join us just in time for our Tower Christmas Podcast. More details on that shortly, so keep watchin! Before we wrap it up, if you have any pictures that are related specifically to the Twilight Zone (ie: props, collectibles, pics etc.), please send them in, as we are busy updating our Fifth Dimension floor. And finally, it was great meeting some of you at The El Capitan in Hollywood last Saturday for the special screening of Nightmare Before Christmas in 3D. You guys looked great in your serviceElevator.com shirts! Back soon!

October 17, 2006- We are beginning a new video series with scenes from around California's Tower of Terror. Given the special Halloween theming, we have posted the first in our series entitled "Tower Tales." Here you will be able to view highlights from the haunted story-tellers as they perform in front of California's Tower of Terror. You will also be able to see some of the Tower lighting enhancements as well. Tower Tales is located on the eighth floor. Back at ya real soon.....

October 9, 2006 - We are proud to announce that Tower of Terror movie actress Wendy Worthington will be featured as our next SE radio interview. Ms. Worthington played the role of Ms. Partridge in Disney's 1997 made for TV movie. The Podcast will be available for listening earlier this week, so keep checking the 8th floor area. More Disneyland Resort Halloween pictures can be found on the 2nd floor under Tower Happenings, including new pictures of the Storytelling HTH Guests. We hope to be posting some video footage soon of their ghostly tales. Mickey's Not so Scary Halloween event is almost upon us--we will bring pics and details of the event soon. Gotta run for now...see ya next time.

October 2, 2006 - The Halloween Season at The Disneyland Resort is finally underway. You can view the latest pictures on the 2nd floor under Tower Happenings. The Tower of Terror attraction looks amazing. As you enter the Tower Hotel area, you will notice an archway made of bats. The archway is best viewed at night. The glowing red of the bats eyes coupled with the new strobe lighting enhancement against the front of the Tower really makes for a great effect.

Visitors will also notice new Hollywood Tower Hotel (HTH) decorations on the lamp posts throughout the area. We briefly met up with some 1939 HTH guests making there way around the hotel grounds (who are still convinced its the year 1939.) In other news....we plan to have our 2nd S.E. Radio podcast up for your listening pleasure sometime next week. We will be interviewing a very special guest, and if you are a Tower fan, you will not want to miss this show. So look out for our special Halloween Season Podcast, located on the 8th floor. Thats all for now---keep checking the Tower-fanattic forum for more "hints" on who we will be interviewing for our next podcast!

September 28, 2006 - More news to share with you about Halloween Time and what it means for California's Tower of Terror. It appears that Tower of Terror will be presenting 6 unique period performers who will engage guests with their spooky storytelling. The ghostly storytellers turn out to be hotel guests from Halloween night 1939....the night when lightning struck the Tower. It is said that the ghostly performers will interact with guests on a stage near the Tower attraction.

They will also be interacting with guests throughout the attraction queue. On a different note, people have asked about the monthly poll; specifically, what happened to their vote. It seems that when we changed servers earlier in the week, we lost your votes. So if you voted before, please feel free to vote again. We will be keeping the monthly poll open for an extended period of time because of this. Also, the first "hint" for our special Towers news has been posted in the Tower-fanattic forum. Keep watching there for more hints.

September 27, 2006 - Congratulations serviceElevator.com staff for winning the coveted Site of the Month Gold Award from The American Association of Webmasters! We are thrilled to receive this award and thank everybody both visitors and hotel staff who made this award a reality.
Click here for more information on the award.
Click here to see us featured on the AAWM site.

We still have some very special Tower of Terror related news to release. We decided we will start posting hints about the news in the TowerFanattic Forum located on the 1st Floor. So don't forget to join the serviceElevator.com community and be on the lookout for those special hints. Till next time.

September 26, 2006 - Consider this speculation, but does this video show a first glimpse of the 2006 Halloween lighting enhancements to The Tower of Terror Attraction? (California). Hmm?
Click here to check out the video:

September 24, 2006 - Desperate Housewives actress Teri Hatcher was caught on camera this past weekend by one of our serviceElevator.com staff. Click this link to see her on California Screamin'. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=igr5WnL_YPo

Moving right along to other news--- we were fortunate to meet some of our readers at the Olszewski signing on Main Street in Disneyland (9-23-06). It was great to hear your feedback and to meet readers of the website in person. We truly appreciate all your support.

Onto some other news--The 5th Dimension Floor and The 2nd Floor (Fall into the Zone) are now open. On the 2nd floor, be sure to check out the section "Tower-rific Happenings" which will feature the latest visual imagery from around the Disneyland Resort. Also, the Hotel Gallery on the 4th floor continues to be updated with new and rare photos........The Halloween Season at Disneyland is fast approaching. The Haunted Mansion has begun it's changeover to the Haunted Mansion Holiday (see the pics on the 2nd floor). The Haunted Mansion/Nightmare before Christmas store has changed locations and can be found just a few steps away from it's previous location (Le Bat En Rouge). New NBC merchandise was spotted this last weekend in the store. Speaking of Nightmare Before Christmas, a 13 week series of collector coins is set to begin on Sept. 29. As with previous years, a new coin is available each week with a dining purchase at either the French Market or Cafe Orleans restaurants. Over at D.C.A., the Golden Dreams Theater will be renamed for the Halloween Season as Golden Screams. Visitors to the theater can watch spooky scenes from Disney animated films which are sure to include those famous Disney Villians. And lest not we forget the Tower of Terror, with it's added Halloween enhancements that are sure to stir up some good scares......Check back here often as we will be releasing some very special news later this week.....news that I'm sure all you Tower fans will want to here!

Don't forget to keep sending us your pictures so we can add them to the Home Page elevator.

September 11, 2006
The Haunted Mansion at The Disneyland Resort in California closes today. Jack Skellington and his friends will be busy decorating the Mansion for its reopening on September 29. Also, California's Tower of Terror gift shop had this sign posted inside (see picture). Will we be seeing ghostly events take place around the The Hollywood Tower this Halloween season? Stay tuned. Don't forget to check out the Hotel Gallery. New pictures will be added on a regular basis. We will be bringing you pictures of Disneyland's Halloween makeover soon.

September 5, 2006
Wow! After a year of planning and months of construction, we are finally up and running and officially launched! As the old saying goes, “pardon the dust” as some of the hotel floors remained closed due to continued renovation- but alas, soon they will be open for your enjoyment. I must say, launching a web site is in some ways like building a home. In other ways it's more like producing a mini motion picture. You have your ideas, blueprints, artists, photographers, and web designer all coming together under the direction of individuals who are trying to insure that the main goals and objectives are met. Nevertheless, we have some exciting things on the horizon for serviceElevator.com.

For starters, our first downloadable podcast from our S.E. radio show is now available. We are extremely excited to announce that we have interviewed actor/writer Robert Steven Rhine for our first show. Rhine is responsible for portraying Rod Serling’s character in the Tower of Terror attractions. Take the service elevator to Floor 8 and be sure to listen in!

In other web site news, The Fort Wilderness Resort is our first featured resort review in our Hotel Travel Club located on floor 10. Up in the Tip Top Club 33, we will be honoring a specially selected cast member for their outstanding guest service. Check back often to see who’s been awarded the prestigious bell hop award. Like to chat? The Hotel Lobby is home to the serviceElevator.com community where there are multiple forums you can join. Want to be featured on our web site? We need a picture of yourself, family member, or friends in front of or around any of Disney's Tower of Terror attractions. Just email us you’re picture to hoteloperator@serviceElevator.com. We will place your picture inside the service elevator on the home page for all to see.

We hear the Disneyland resort in California is getting a bit more of a Halloween makeover for 2006. This includes the Hollywood Tower Hotel! While not confirmed, the latest whispers and shadows are reporting there may be ghostly storytelling going on around the Tower courtesy of the ghostly elevator characters depicted in the Tower of Terror attraction. When we get more news on this we will be sure to pass it on. Be sure and check back here often for all the latest blab. By the way, a big thumbs up for the grand opening of the Hightower Hotel attraction at Tokyo's Disney Sea theme Park in Japan. While the Twilight Zone theme plays NO part in Tokyo’s version, we’re always excited to see the opening of a new tower attraction here at serviceelevator.com (way to go again Disney Imagineers!).

We would love to see any pictures you may have of Tokyo's Hightower hotel so feel free to e-mail them to us. And be on the lookout for a 4th Tower to open soon—this one happening at the Walt Disney Studios in Paris.

Lastly, we are looking for a few contributing writers/photographers for this website. If interested, give us a holler. And don't forget to check out the Hotel Gift Shop on the 3rd floor. Soon we will have plenty of swag to offer…..also, in the near future, we plan on having contests for some neat prizes so don’t forget to “check-in” with us on a regular basis. Did I forget to say “welcome”? Welcome!

Cheers, your hotel operator
